Summer Activities in Canmore, Alberta
Canmore offers a host of enjoyable activities all year round. The top six activities for the summer, we recommend are:
| White Water Rafting: Our family enjoy going to the Canadian Rockies Rafting Company (1-887-226-7625) which offers a range of trips to suit everyone from families with young kids, to thrill seekers. |

Hiking: Whether taking a gentle stroll or a challenging mountain trail Canmore and the surrounding areas offer many beautiful trails to explore. We really like the stunning trails around the Nordic Centre and Grassi lakes. An enjoyable trip is to go to Lake Louise, which has breathtaking views of mountains, lakes and forests. This trip offers stunning scenery and there are even tearooms along the walks, which serve excellent banana cake and a wide selection of hot drinks. Our favorite walk is the trail from Lake Louise to Lake Agatha, especially since there is a waterfall at the top where you can cool down alter the hike, just make sure you keep an eye out for bears! |

Golf: There are numerous golf courses to enjoy in the area which we hear come highly recommended The closest club is Stuart Creek Golf Course of the Three Sisters Resort (1-877 993-4653) which has beautiful views of the local area, and is internationally ranked as one of the finest courses in North America.
However, we think that Canmore Golf and Curling Club (403-678-5959) is more reasonably priced, has a stunning view over the Bow Diver and offers a very enjoyable lunch. |

| Hot Springs and Spas: We (especially my Mum and 1) love going to the Hot Springs. Our favorite is Banff springs (403-762-1315) where you can relax in the steaming mineral waters surrounded by breathtaking views of the mountains. Our favorite spa is Wildflower Massage and Aesthetics (678-4644) which give wonderful relaxing massages and will give manicures and pedicures to those who are a little too young. |

Fishing: Canmore is a prime tout fishing area. The Bow Diver, Ghost Lake and Grotto Pond come highly recommended.
Heli-fishing and float tube excursions are available. Although it is important to purchase a fishing licence if not on these excursions. |
| |
|
| Rock Climbing: We have not had the chance (or the guts) to go rock climbing yet there are so many activities to do it is hard to fit them all in! However we hear that Canmore is one of the best areas in the Rockies to go climbing. Mount Yamnuska is popular and lessons are available here (1-403-678-4164). |

| Eating out: Canmore has a wide range of places to eat which is my favourite activity after a busy day whether hiking cycling or just going to the spa. The Grizzly Paw on The Canmore High Street is a fantastic place to get pub food such as burgers, ribs and chicken wings, But is also its own micro brewery where you can watch the beer you are drinking being made, if you are planning to return here often you could pay the small fee to have your own personalised tankard hung there which means you get to drink for free on your birthday, Treo’s has a cosy atmosphere and a wide range of dishes offering different favors from all over the world... the sumptuous, extensive menu is rather popular so reservations are advised. If you up for a little more than just a meal, the Canmore Hotel is the oldest building in town and always has good entertainment Canmore evens has its own nightclub aptly named Hooligans, though we have not had the pleasure of visiting ourselves. |
